Egypt Sherrod shared a health update with her followers to explain her recent "silence" in a since-deleted Instagram post

The update comes after she posted about "a woman's patience" being tested, which some fans thought was about her husband Mike Jackson

Egypt Sherrod is explaining her recent "silence" in a social media update days after she shared a cryptic message about "a woman's patience" being tested.

The HGTV star, 49, shared the update in a since-deleted Instagram post on Tuesday, Jan. 6, in which she explained her social media hiatus was due to a recent surgery she had to heal from, followed by an unexpected injury.

“I owe you an update…..sorry for the silence,” she began the caption. “I had to step away from the world for the past five weeks to focus fully on healing after surgery. It’s been a scary road, but I’m still standing and still on the mend.”

She continued, “Now here’s the wild part… just as I finally got back on my feet last week, a literal piece of marble fell on my foot and shattered two of my toes. TWO. The devil is absolutely a liar.”

Sherrod then went on to look at the “bright side,” noting how the surgery and marble accident all happened in 2025, and she is “rebuking all of this energy for 2026.” She added that she was still able to walk without a cast or boot despite all that she went through.

Her health update comes after she shared a New Year’s post with her followers, in which she penned a message about her "patience" being tested.

“A good woman’s patience is often mistaken for tolerance of harm, when in reality it is a form of hope,” she wrote. “She may give chances not because she lacks strength, but because she believes in goodness, growth, communication, and the possibility of repair.”

“She carries the weight quietly, adjusting, forgiving, and trying again long after others would have walked away. But every boundary crossed, every repeated disappointment, slowly clarifies something important: love cannot survive where respect is absent.”

The real estate expert concluded the post by warning, “Never push a Proverbs woman. She is covered and clear. New chapters.”

While it’s unclear what exactly her post was referring to, some commenters questioned whether it was about her husband and HGTV co-star Mike Jackson.

“Okkkk you look breathtaking Egypt and the caption is EVERYTHING…..but did anybody else go scrolling to see if she and Mike was still together??? That caption scared me for a minute. Ok, excuse me while I continue to heal. Happy New Year my dear,” one user wrote.

A number of other users replied to the comment in agreement.

“I definitely did. My heart was pounding and screaming ‘SAY IT AIN’T SO,’” one person wrote, followed by another who admitted Sherrod’s caption “sent us into panic mode.”

PEOPLE reached out to a representative for Sherrod who had no comment on the post.

On Jan. 8, Sherrod posted another update on Instagram about how “everyone is replaceable.”

“People come and go. Vision stays. Everyone is replaceable. But momentum is non-negotiable. This year I’m locked in on disciplined focus and execution. On the bus or not, it keeps rolling, “ she wrote in the post.

Sherrod and Jackson tied the knot in September 2010 after six years of dating. Since then, they have welcomed two children, daughters Harper and Kendall. Sherrod is also stepmom to Jackson's older daughter, Simone, from a previous relationship.

In an interview with PEOPLE published in October 2025, the couple addressed rumors circulating about their relationship, and how that affected things behind the scenes as they worked on what ended up being the final season of Married to Real Estate.

Amid several changes to the production team and other claims about what was happening on the set of their real estate and home renovation series, the two said that adding to the chaos were questions about their marriage. "From a fan standpoint, another monkey wrench in it all was false articles flying all over the place about us separating," Jackson said at the time.

"We were like, 'Where's this coming from? Because we're still deeply in love and having fun and traveling.' So you've got all the [show executive] changes, you don't know what time slot [you're in] and then you've got the fans reading articles that aren't true," he continued.

In June 2025, they had just returned from a family vacation to the Mediterranean when they say they learned that Married to Real Estate was ending — something they first posted about on Instagram amid a number of big changes to HGTV's lineup at the time.

"We came back on this amazing high and I lie to you not, we were still at the airport loading our bags in our car when management and the agency called us to tell us about the show," Sherrod told PEOPLE in 2025, adding that "it was insane."

At the time, the two said they still had other businesses and projects they were working on together, including Indigo Road Realty, which is a real estate brokerage, design firm and construction company, as well as home furnishings that consumers can buy online, and their podcast, Marriage and Money.

"Everything you saw on TV is real," Sherrod told PEOPLE, noting that the end of Married to Real Estate on HGTV "is just the beginning of our entire saga." She added, "We want everybody to be okay with it and just continue to tune in for what's next."
