Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is denying reports that he is withholding major evidence from the FBI in the Nancy Guthrie case, telling News 4 Tucson that the claim is “not even close to the truth” and praising their long-standing partnership. **
His comments come after Reuters published a report on Wednesday that cited an unidentified U.S. law enforcement official who claimed that the FBI had asked for physical evidence pertaining to the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie's mother — including a glove and DNA from her Arizona home — to be processed at its national crime laboratory in Quantico, Va., but that Nanos chose to use a private lab in Florida instead. **
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced in a statement on Thursday that investigators had recovered several pieces of evidence, including gloves, from within a two-mile radius of Nancy’s home.

"Actually, the FBI just wanted to send the one or two [gloves] they found by the crime scene, closest to it — mile, mile and a half," Nanos told News 4 Tucson. "I said 'No, why do that? Let’s just send them all to where all the DNA exist, all the profiles and the markers exist.' They agreed, makes sense."**
He added that the sheriff’s department has worked with the Florida lab for years and that it is analyzing the DNA profiles taken from the crime scene pro bono, News 4 Tucson reports.

Nanos also told the outlet that there were “quite a number” of gloves discovered in the surrounding area near Nancy’s home. Still, he warned: “We don't even know the true value of these gloves.”
He continued, “When this is all done with, offer your critiques all you want, but right now we have work to do.”

Nancy was last seen being dropped off by her family on the night of Jan. 31. She was reported missing the next day after concerned friends reached out to her other daughter, Annie, after she failed to attend their virtual church service at a friend's house. **
In the almost two weeks since her disappearance, Savannah, Annie, and their brother Camron have released several videos requesting the public’s help and pleading for their mother’s safe return.
On Thursday, Savannah shared a childhood home video featuring her mom on Instagram, writing, "Our lovely mom. We will never give up on her. thank you for your prayers and hope.”

Earlier this week, the FBI released images and video of a man outside her door taken on her security camera. The agency also announced on Thursday that it had increased its reward to $100,000 for information that leads to the location of Nancy and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance and shared photographs of the backpack the individual was wearing in the footage. **
The FBI also encouraged anyone with information to submit it to the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or online at tips.fbi.gov to help bring Nancy home.
