- D4vd has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail, the LAPD announced on April 16.

- The singer's arrest comes eight months after the remains of Celeste Rivas, a teenager, were discovered in his impounded car.

- Rivas had been reported missing by her family April 2024.

The singer known as D4vd has been arrested on suspicion of murder months after the body of a teenage girl was found in his car.

"Detectives from Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division have arrested David Burke, a 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, for the murder of Celeste Rivas," the department said in a statement Thursday. "Burke is being held without bail."

Authorities added, "The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration."

Shortly after D4vd's arrest, TMZ published a video of the singer being taken into custody.

His legal team also released a statement to the outlet.

"Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death," Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter said.

"There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed," they continued. "David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence."

Back in September, Los Angeles police discovered a decomposed body in the trunk of an impounded Tesla reportedly registered to D4vd.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the body as Rivas, 14. Her date of death was listed as Sept. 8, the same day the body was discovered.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at the time that Rivas was a "juvenile who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore" in April 2024, according to NBC News.

"She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend," the Rivas-Hernandez family said in a statement posted on GoFundMe, which raised nearly $25,000. "Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. They are seeking help to lay her body to rest."

Authorities also told ABC7 that they had executed a search warrant at the Hollywood Hills home where D4vd had been staying. The home had been rented for the singer by his manager Josh Marshall, who has denied any involvement in the case. Marshall did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment regarding his client's arrest.

A representative for D4vd previously told NBC4 that the singer was "fully cooperating with the authorities," despite being on a nationwide tour.

Officers discovered the "possible human remains" after responding to reports of a "foul odor" emanating from a car in a Hollywood tow yard around 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 8, a spokesperson for the LAPD previously told EW.

D4vd was on a national tour in support of his debut album, *Withered*, when the remains were discovered on Sept. 8. "D4vd has been informed about what's happened,” his spokesperson said the following day. “And, although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.” That night, the singer performed in Minneapolis, where video showed him tossing Labubu toys to fans in the audience.

The *Withered* tour continued through Kansas City, Denver, and Portland before it was officially canceled ahead of his Los Angeles stop at the Greek Theatre on Sept. 20.

In the weeks leading up to his April 2026 arrest, D4vd was reportedly the “target” of a grand jury investigation that had commenced in November 2025.

Numerous witnesses were called in to testify, including the singer’s father, mother, brother, and day-to-day manager Robert Morgenroth. One person, D4vd’s close friend Neo Langston, was arrested in February after ignoring the subpoena and brought from Montana to Los Angeles to go before the grand jury.

Following his 40-minute testimony, Langston posted a statement on Instagram Stories, saying, “at the end of the day this case isn't about me, it isn't about you, it's about getting justice for the victim and her family.”

D4vd is best known for his 2022 singles "Here With Me" and "Romantic Homicide," which became viral hits on TikTok and have accrued over 1.5 billion streams each on Spotify. His songs have been featured on the soundtracks of shows like *Arcane* and *Dave*.
