PEOPLE has learned that the couple are not broken up
The couple — who have a 39-year age gap — have been linked for more than 10 years
Despite rumors of a split, Steven Tyler and his longtime girlfriend Aimee Preston are still in a relationship.
A report from TMZ on Friday, Dec. 19, initially stated that the Aerosmith rocker, 77, and his girlfriend, 38, had broken up after more than 10 years in a relationship.
PEOPLE soon learned that the couple had not actually split. TMZ later their post confirming the same.

Before their relationship took a romantic turn, Preston was Tyler's personal assistant. She first began working for Tyler in October 2012, and she shared her first Instagram photo with Tyler in 2013. Previously, she was a personal assistant for Donald Trump's ex-wife, Maria Maples, Christina Aguilera and the Beckham family, according to Entertainment Tonight.
They made their official debut as a couple in February 2016 at an Academy Awards viewing party for Elton John's AIDS Foundation.
One of the couple's most recent red carpet appearances came in February 2025, when Preston, Tyler, and his daughter Mia Tyler, 46, were photographed at the 6th Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles.

Tyler has four children from previous relationships — daughters Liv Tyler, whom he shares with singer and model Bebe Buell, Mia Tyler, who he shares with his late former wife and model Cyrinda Foxe, as well as Chelsea Tyler and son Taj Tyler, both of whom he shares with ex-wife and designer Teresa Barrick.

Tyler and Preston — who have a 39-year age gap — don't often speak about each other publicly, but they aren't afraid to show some "sweet emotion" on red carpets or share loving messages about one another in an occasional social media post.
Back in 2023, Preston shared a trio of pics of herself and Tyler covered in mud to mark the Aerosmith frontman's 71st birthday.
"Thankfully we were a complete f---ing mess going into this...makes the whole 'birthday under quarantine' thing just part of the plan 🖤 @iamstevent #happybirthdaytohim #tbt 📸: @katbenzova_rockphoto," she captioned the snaps in March 2020, which appear to be from their trip a couple of years earlier to the Dead Sea.
Tyler has also given his longtime girlfriend social media shout-outs, especially when Valentine's Day or her birthday rolls around. He uses lyrics from the Aerosmith "Deuces Are Wild" when captioning their photos together, which features lyrics like "'cause you and me is two of a kind."
