The day after *Bringing Up Bates* star Katie Bates opens up about a pregnancy loss, her husband, Travis Clark, revealed he had an extramarital affair.

"This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology," Clark, 24, wrote in a candid Jan. 17 Instagram Stories post. "I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone."

He went on to apologize for the "pain, humiliation, and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices," adding, "There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don't begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I've brought into her life, but I am truly sorry."

The former reality star continued, "I understand that an apology doesn't repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for."

Clark then shared that he is taking "responsibility" for his actions by "getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man." He concluded by asking for privacy and grace for Katie as she weathers this difficult period in their marriage.

Bates and Clark, who met in 2019 and began dating the following year, have been married since December 2021. They welcomed their first baby, daughter Hailey James, in February 2023 and their second child, son Harvey Gray, in September 2024.

On Jan. 16, in an emotional video tracing her pregnancy, Bates revealed that she and Clark had suffered a devastating loss. The start of the video sees Katie excitedly holding up a positive pregnancy test. She celebrates by buying a onesie, white baby booties, a teddy bear, and balloons to surprise her husband with the news. Later in the video, she is sitting in a hospital bed, sobbing as she announces, "I just lost my baby."

The video also showed the family coming together amid the loss. She captioned the post, "I will spend the rest of my life missing you."

A comment from the Bates family social media account read, "There’s no way to describe the pain of a loss like this. Our hearts are all broken, but we know we will meet this precious little one someday in glory!"

Katie is one of the daughters of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates, whose life raising their 19 children became the subject of TLC's *United Bates of America* and Up TV's *Bringing Up Bates.*

Katie and the other members of her family have yet to directly address Travis' announcement, though her older brother Lawson shared a cryptic post to Instagram reels.

The seemingly innocuous video sees Lawson lifting weights. Onscreen, the text reads, "One day, someone might tell your kids, 'You’re just like your dad.' Make sure it’s a compliment, not an insult."
